Audit Quality Accounting and Finance

Question: Talk about the Audit Quality Accounting and Finance. Answer: Presentation: In the realm of serious business world, the global firms that establishes of both benefit just as non-benefit partnerships have resources of various classes. The advantages can be additionally isolated into differing classifications. As accurately referenced by Liu et al. (2016), enterprises use or, in all likelihood create explicit resources in an offer to do their every day business capacities. In particular, these benefits are alluded to as the present resources of a partnership. In actuality, the fixed resources are put to use for fulfillment of long haul goals of the enterprise. While partnerships have chiefly two unique classes of advantages, specifically, the fixed resources and the present resources, the organizations additionally take part in holding distinctive scholarly properties, for example, the trademarks together with copyrights (Bevis 2013). Moreover, the benefits created attributable to merger or, in all likelihood securing or, in all likelihood notoriety, generosit y or, more than likely brand picture can be viewed as protected innovation of a business concern. As per Evangelinos et al. (2015), business concerns can't use scholarly properties straightforwardly with the end goal of age of income of the association. All things considered, diverse sort of benefits may maybe help with enlarging the degree of benefit of Longreach Ltd after efficacious backhanded usage of the advantages. In like manner, this specific classes of properties are articulated as impalpable resources as these advantages are basically physical and there exists no likelihood to communicate the equivalent in monetary terms. In this way, these classifications of benefits can be enlisted in the books of records of the company Longreach Limited dependent on the aggregate sum consumed to gain the equivalent. As properly set forward by Bepari and Mollik (2015), there has been sharp ascent in the general worth of the genuine resources inferable from varieties in the current market set-up. Subsequently, the Longreach Limited wants to use the specific weakness test on the off chance that if the genuine worth of specific fixed resources are lower in contrast with the book esteems. Moreover, the hindrance tests can likewise help the administration of the association Longreach Limited to liken book estimations of the advantages with the future market an incentive by orchestrating debilitation accounts. All things considered, in such manner, Bond et al. (2016) referenced that course of action of weakness accounts license a particular business worry to diminish the general book an incentive for contrasting and the specific impedance account. In this manner, the diminished estimation of the benefit can prompt hindrance misfortune for the enterprise Longreach Limited. On account of the Longreach Li mited, the organization utilizes various resources for continuous creation. In any case, the creation limit of the business concern may decrease later on because of the use of these benefits. Camodeca et al. (2013) upheld that the appearance of different contemporary hardware just as advancements lead to bring down market estimation of antiquated instruments. Thusly, these instruments become old in the transnational organizations to adapt up to the rising degree of rivalry. It very well may be seen that the value of land has been pointedly ascending in the current business set up. In any case, Glaum et al. (2015) contended that the value of land has the tendency to decrease in various circumstances attributable to the advancement of various public venue and new towns, networks just as over populace. In any case, with the steady adjustments in the preferences just as inclinations of various buyers just as the expanding prominence of assorted cutting edge innovations, the administration of the partnership Longreach Limited may presumably encounter declined values identified with the patent rights just as trademarks. Then again, the advantage generosity can be viewed as the obtaining estimation of different business concerns. In any case, in the event that the estimation of the procured resources decline in the market, at that point the general estimation of generosity stop to decay (Kabir and Rahman 2015). Other than this, the administration of the partnership Longreach Limited want to uncover budgetary announcements in an offer to satisfy the necessities of various related partners. Be that as it may, from the viewpoint of the AASB just as the administration orders, the administration of the enterprise Longreach Limited requires to represent the reasonable resource just as obligation esteems. Thusly, this sort of revelation can guarantee the interests of the partners of the company in the long haul (Liu et al. 2016). It tends to be guessed that organization Longreach Limited has bought overrated hardware before ten years. All things considered, in the present situation, the value of the apparatus has diminished extensively, that is not exactly 50% of the purchasing esteem. The essential driver behind such lessening is basically the approach of specific cutting edge innovations that are accessible in the market at a lesser value (Glaum et al. 2015). The administration of the enterprise Longreach Limited can outline the purchasing cost of the gear in the money related announcements of the organization. In any case, on the off chance that if the organization presents exaggerated sums as the value of the gear of the enterprise, at that point this will prompt infringement of the acts of reasonable bookkeeping according to the specifications of AASB. Moreover, breaks in the best business practice of reasonable worth bookkeeping can prompt negative effect on the general dynamic procedure of the partners. In this manner, AASB has presented the standards of debilitation for ensuring the privileges of the partners. AASB plainly presents guidelines to various Australian organizations to develop resource impedance test and mastermind money related announcements (Glaum et al. 2015). As properly set forward by Liu et al. (2016), the utilization of disability test is made when the conveying measure of the advantage is more noteworthy when contrasted with the recoverable sum. Nonetheless, the previous sum can be put basically in the books of benefit records of the business concern. In any case, from the point of view of business, the conveying measure of the advantage can be viewed as the purchasing cost just as the benefit worth after deterioration (Bevis 2013). Especially, there are two diverse grouping for recoverable measure of a specific resource. In any case, the various classifications of recoverable sum contains the incentive being used just as the real resource worth. The administration of the organization Longreach Limited can list the genuine worth of the benefit after derivation of the consumption cost from especially the recoverable measure of the advantage. As properly set forward by Bond et al. (2016), the assessed progression of money that will be perceived in the up and coming period from the advantage can be alluded to as the incentive in use. According to the standard IAS 36, it is sensible to receive the higher sum among the two unique sums in the event that if both the sums are accessible. According to the conditions specified under AASB 136, the measure of misfortune produced from the hindrance can be set under the charge in contrast with specific resource for diminish the whole book esteem and keeping up the measure of advantage bookkeeping the equivalent. Therefore, the measure of misfortune acknowledged can be balanced with the non-working misfortune referenced under the pay revelation. In any case, on the off chance that if the organization Longreach Limited keeps up a record for enrolling the revaluation excess, at that point the record for impedance misfortune can be credited against the record of revaluation overflow (Khokan Bepari et al. 2014). Appropriately, this diminishes the whole worth of the value of the investors of the business concern. Khokan Bepari et al. (2014) pushed that altruism of an association can be enlisted under a specific class of advantages that help with expanding the age money capability of the business concern. Be that as it may, the organization Longreach Limited can alter the whole record of the hindrance misfortune in an alternate way by adjusting the record for generosity. In any case, the organization Longreach Limited could likewise arrange the procedure of money age accounts established on the book estimation of the particular resources. Employees are working harder than before and in their attempt to fulfil the expectations of the employers, they are getting involved too much into their work lives and are not able to manage their personal lives (Delecta, 2011). The loss of balance between the work lives and personal lives of the employees is having some serious complications for the employers as well as for the employees. The stress levels amongst the employees is constantly on the rise and the organisations too feel a drop in their overall performance levels when the employees are stressed and cannot fulfil their job duties and responsibilities properly (Bird, 2003). Therefore, business organisations are getting increasingly aware about the importance of employee work life balance and are taking all the necessary steps to assist them in achieving a perfect balance between their work lives and personal lives. Importance of Work Life Balance Before getting further into the topic, it is important to understand the importance of having a proper balance between work life and personal life for an employer as well as for an employee. The importance of maintaining work life balance is discussed below: First of all, helping the employees in maintaining a balance between their work life and their personal lives can help business organisations in avoiding situations of excessive employee burnouts. When the employees are unable to meet the expectations of their companies, it becomes impossible for them to maintain their calm and its starts to have an impact on their personal lives, which increases their stress levels and results in a burnout (Australian Institute of Business, 2015). Secondly, allowing the employees to maintain a perfect balance between their work lives and personal lives will help the company in becoming more efficient and productive. Employees who have a better balance between their work and personal lives are more satisfied with their jobs and are are able to perform better in the workplace, which will ultimately help the organisation in performing better on the overall (Scotto, 2016). Thirdly, employees with better balance between their work lives and personal lives are able to stay healthy and focus more towards their jobs. This in turn can help the employers as there will be less sick leaves and health insurance expenditures. From the above information, it is clearly evident that the concept of work life balance can be beneficial for the employees as well as for the employers. Therefore, the present day business organisations are trying their best to identify new ways of fostering a better work life balance for the employees. Use of Applications for Maintaining Work Life Balance Technology is one of the best gift of science to the human world. Technology has been evolving at such a fast pace that there are new technological innovations taking place on a daily basis that are aimed at making the life of humans easier than before. One of the best gifts of technology to the human world has been smartphones and smartphones applications. There was a time when the world wide web was considered to be the biggest technological invention ever possible and there could be nothing ahead of it but soon the world was taken over by smartphone applications that could perform more functions and tasks as compared to the world wide web. As of today, there are billions of applications available in different smartphone application stores that can perform millions of different functions. Smartphone applications are becoming increasingly important in business organisations as they are not only helping the employers and employees in ensuring better productivity, performance and communication channel but are also being used by them for ensuring a better balance between their work lives and personal lives. The usage of smartphones for the maintenance of a balance between work life and personal life will definitely have implications for the employees as well as for the employers, which are discussed below: Implications for Employees Technological inventions of the modern ay world are having a huge impact on the life of the employees. They are not only helping them in becoming more productive and competitive but are also helping them in ensuring a proper balance between their work life and personal life. Mobile phone applications have allowed the employees to stay connected with their work as well as with their families at all point of times, which helps them in managing their work even if they are home and vice versa. The implication of smartphone applications for the employees are discussed below: First of all, smartphones applications will help the employees in managing their time in a better way. Using smartphone applications like Timeneye, employees are able to keep a track of their activities along with the time spent on them. By analysing the time and the work patterns, time management applications are able to provide useful suggestions to the employees that can enable them to design their work schedule accordingly (Prokopets, n.d.). Further, there are also multiple smartphone applications that have been designed for the humans to create reminders and get notifications about important events. Using such applications, employees can set their schedules in advance and can maintain a better balance between the work life and personal life (Donnelly, n.d.). Secondly, smartphone applications also allow employees to check their work related information even when they are away from their office. They can get notified about important e-mails, client messages, updates about their company, etc. within real time and can also provide immediate feedback if necessary. Further, a number of applications have been designed that can also enable the employees to be start a video conference call, which saves a lot of time that they would otherwise have to spend in travelling from one place to another in order to attend meetings. Thirdly, smartphone applications in addition with fitness devices can create miracles in the business industry. One of the latest inventions of technology has been the wearable fitness devices, such as Fitbit watches, Apple watch, etc., which are aimed at monitoring the day-to-day activities of the users. Wearable fitness devices can track physical activities of the employees through the day and can also track their stress levels. In case of long sittings, the devices can also give haptic feedbacks to the employees, reminding them of the time since they have been sitting and that they should take out time for a walk or breath properly (Lunney, et al., 2016). Such applications and devices can regulate employee stress levels and can assist them in living a healthier life. Lastly, employees will have to become more competent and will have to gain more knowledge about smartphone applications. As there are millions of applications that have been designed to solve different purposes, the employees will have to carefully chose the applications that will target the right aspects in their work and personal lives. Implications for Human Resource Management Human resource management has been evolving since the industrial revolution and has undergone a great number of changes since then. The changing external and internal environment factors are forcing the human resource managers to adopt new management practices and redesign some of their core functions in order to become more efficient and productive. The evolution of smartphone applications will also have a great impact on the management of human resources. The implications of smartphone applications on the human resources are discussed below: First of all, the management of human resources will undergo a great deal of change because of smartphone applications. Even though the management of human resources might become easier because of the advantage of technology but understanding the technology will still pose a great threat to business organisations. Human resource managers will have to identify certain applications that will fit well with their strategies and will be able to satisfy their needs and demands. Further, they will also have to ensure that the applications that they use to assist the workforce in maintaining a healthy work life balance are efficient enough and are achieving what they are desired to. Secondly, the use of mobile phone applications for managing work life balance of the employees will increase the cost of human resource management operations. If the business organisations start using smartphone applications themselves and incorporate them in their business activities to manage their workforce, the overall expenditure will increase because they will have to maintain an infrastructure and professionals that will use the applications to achieve the desired results. Thirdly, the usage of smartphone applications will require human resource managers to increase their technical knowledge as they will have to ensure that the information creates, stored and accessed as a result of smartphone applications is secure and is not used by outside entities. Fourthly, on the overall, usage of smartphone applications to help the employees in maintaining a healthy work life balance will make human resource management more effective and efficient in achieving its objectives. Allowing the employees to use smartphone applications to manage their work life balance will enable human resource managers to regulate their stress levels and ensure that they do not experience burnouts because of lack of time for family. Ultimately, the workforce will become more satisfied with their jobs and will be able to focus more on their work. Such positive outcomes will help them in showing greater performance at work, which will be a huge plus point for a business organisation from the perspective of human resource management. Fifthly, human resource management departments will be able to improve the overall condition of the organisation using smartphone applications that will be aimed at helping the employees in maintaining a better balance between their work lives and family lives. Using the data form applications and wearable fitness devices, human resource managers will be able to identify those employees who will be experiencing greater stress levels (Fritz, et al., 2014). Further, human resource departments can choose different strategies to deal with such employees and try to reduce their stress levels, which will increase their level of job satisfaction and help in preventing them from quitting the organisation. Thus, it will become easier for the human resource managerial departments to retain talented pool of employees. Lastly, mobile phone applications cannot just help human resource managerial departments in helping the employees to establish a healthier work life balance but will open up more opportunities for them. Smartphone applications can be design and developed to cater to certain special needs of human resource departments, such as viewing payroll schemes, tracking employee schedules, storing and assessing employee information and data, sharing information, etc. which will ultimately make human resource management easier and much more efficient than ever before. Implications for Managers and Leaders The proposition of using smartphone applications for managing work life balance is not just beneficial for the employees or for the human resource managers but can also provide a great deal of benefits to the managers or leaders of the companies. The implications of using smartphone applications in managing work life balance on the jobs of managers and leaders are discussed below: First of all, using smartphone applications for helping the employees in maintaining a healthy work life balance will greatly help the managers in accessing and sharing important information related to employee schedules and work hours. The manager or leaders of the organisation and the employees can use a same smartphone application that will allow them to access information and data that is related with their work schedules, holidays, week offs, upcoming leaves, etc. Thus, it will become easier for the leaders or the managers to manage the people working under them as they will be able to access and share information easily and more effectively (McPadden, 2016). Secondly, managers and leaders will be able to perform their job duties and functions more effectively. One of the most important job duty of the managers or the leaders is to keep their employees motivated and engaged in the workplace, so that they can meet the performance objectives that are set up by the human resource management. using smartphone applications, managers will be able to track the activities of all those employees that are working under them. Moreover, in addition to smartphone applications, managers can also gain access to information and data collected by wearable fitness devices and can use that data to assess the stress levels of the employees. Using data related with the stress levels of the employees, the managers or the leaders can lead the employees in a better way and can help those who are experiencing greater stress levels. As a result, it will become easier for the leaders to keep their employees motivated, engaged and less stressed (ADP Research Institu te, 2014). Lastly, to achieve success and better end results, leaders and managers will have to undergo training and development programs that will increase their awareness in the field of smartphone applications and will also help them in learning about the operations of such applications and how data can be extracted from it (LAUBY, 2011). Conclusion The business world is transforming at a very fast pace and only the fittest of all business organisations can survive in the market competition. To ensure long term survival in the market, it is important for the business organisations to depend on their human resources and ensure proper management of human resources to achieve the maximum benefits. One of the best ways to enhance human resource competencies and performance is by allowing them to maintain a healthy work life balance and smartphone applications can offer a great potential to human resource managers and leaders of the organisation to help the employees in achieving a perfect work life balance. The Light at the End of the Tunnel free essay sample

Like everyone in this convoluted world I have ups and downs; highs and lows. However, sometimes in life you hit bottom, your absolute bitter, dark, godforsaken bottom. Hitting that lowest point changes you. Maybe it makes you more mature, or it forces you to see things differently. Maybe theres just no way to define how it changes you. It just does. Its like when you have sex for the first time. Nothing about you really changes, yet everything does. Youre a different person and sometimes you just cant put into words the metamorphosis that has just occurred. I had that period of defining time and Im not going to say I turned into a beautiful butterfly because of it, but a part of me did change. At the beginning of senior year my life had sunk to an unfamiliar low: my absolute best friends no longer associated with me, worse than that they acted like I didnt exist; my father would just stare at me like he was looking out a window, all the while asking me superficial questions; and I no longer knew who I was. We will write a custom essay sample on The Light at the End of the Tunnel or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Quite frankly I was depressed. I felt as if I meant nothing to everybody and therefore I meant nothing to myself. I understand the ideology of teenagers; depressed, love obsessed, dramatic. But that was never me. I never bought into the partying, drinking, and weed smoking image that people have of teenagers nowadays. I had never drank, smoked, or even had sex. All that mattered to me was my family, my friends, and school. At that moment my small circle of life was in complete disarray, even my school life became twisted and dark. To be honest I had no idea how to handle everything that was going on. I started to slip into a rabbit hole that I didnt know how to climb out of. I would sit in my room, alone, and just sleep. I hated life so much and I hated myself even more. I even turned to extremes to deal with everything. Cutting meant I could control my feelings and it was the only thing during that time that would bring me clarity. Picking up that blade for the first time was my lowest point. The sad thing was I knew it too. I knew that I was hitting my bottom even as I held the razor in my sweaty hand. In those moments something about me changed. Being in such a dark abyss meant leaving behind that innocent, carefree girl. Im not saying that I became an adult but I certainly wasnt a kid anymore either. I realized I could no longer pretend that my world would work itself out. I had to take back some control of my life. First, I set up meetings with my best friends that I hadnt talked to in a month. No matter what happened between us I needed closure. To counteract my antisocial behavior I tried out for cheerleading. Lastly there was my dad and our deteriorating relationship. Unfortunately I was forced to realize that our relationship had been breaking for a long time. I had just kept myself blind to the truth. Then, when things still didnt get better, and that defining darkness still loomed over me, I went to see a psychiatrist. With help from an antidepressant, counseling, and the people I love I was able to bring a sense of normalcy back to my life but things would always be different. There was just no way to go back to who I was before those pitch black months, looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. It was as if I went into that tunnel an ignorant child and the only way to come out of the tunnel, back to the light, was a part of me had to grow up.

Choosing a good essay topic is very important for the success of your finance essay but sometimes, it may be challenging. Here are some tips on how to choose a great topic that will help you achieve success in writing. Select a topic you are interested in. You should limit your topic to the analysis of some aspects of the real estate market in a particular country. Do research. If you have a vague idea of what you would like to write about, do some research online. Decision Making and Risk Assessment in Business. Start Researching: Fresh Ideas from Our Writers If your instructor has given you a topic, you should analyze your task for keywords (such as compare, analyze, describe, criticize etc.) that determine the issue or the topic. Break down your assignment into several questions. This will help you make an informed choice of sources that are required to complete your assignment in finance. Now it’s time to look for solid sources of information related to the topic you have chosen. You may look through your textbooks or your class notes and try to find sources in the library. You can find a lot of up-to-date financial information in financial newspapers and journals. Start reading your sources to get an overall picture of your topic. When you read your sources, you need to keep your assignment in mind, take notes, and write some useful information that you can use for making quotations. Make sure you write down all the necessary information about the source title, its author, and the number of the page. In this way, you will work more productively when making references and creating your bibliography page. When you have finished a broad reading, you are ready to define your own perspective on your assignment question. Now it’s time to focus on more detailed texts and outline your possible line of argument. You should search for sources that provide details about the points you have determined as a part of an overall picture. You may use reading lists you have found in relevant articles in journals, library databases, and catalogs. At the end of your reading sources, you have to commit to a certain position that will help you make your writing coherent and logical. Write an Outline for Your Finance Essay Writing an essay is a time-consuming process that requires attention and careful planning. You should organize your argument and supporting evidence and determine connections between your key points. A good idea is to make an outline of your finance essay before you actually start writing it. Still, some students prefer to work without a detailed outline and just make a list of headings and sub-headings to stay focused, organized, and logical. You can make a plan for your finance essay in any format. The main thing is that you need to make this plan before you start working on your project. In this way, you’ll have an overview of what your finance assignment will cover. Your outline will guide your writing and ensure that you will cover everything. Create the First Draft You may start working on your finance essay with an introduction, although many people consider that this approach is too complex for them and they prefer to start their essay by completing body paragraphs. They write the introduction and the conclusion when they have already finished writing the main body. Introduction When writing the introduction which is the most difficult aspect of writing an essay in finance, you need to present the thesis statement that will guide your writing. You should make your thesis statement concise but it needs to incorporate all the major points of your essay. Your introduction should include your interpretation of a research question and a brief outline of your finance essay structure. You can mention some points you will argue in your finance essay. You can use this generic structure for your finance essay introduction: start with a general point about the main issue; demonstrate that you have a good understanding of your task; present your plan to organize the essay structure; make a transition to the first point. Main Body The body of your finance essay has to fulfill the promises that you have made in the introduction and it has to back your conclusions. Your body paragraphs should include your argument. You have to begin each paragraph with a topic sentence that will present one of your key points you want to argue in this particular paragraph. You need to support your key points by relevant evidence. The topic sentence actually expresses the main idea of the paragraph which you have to develop through analysis, discussion, and criticism. You have to provide examples that support or illustrate your point. At the end of your paragraph, you’ll need to include transitions that will ensure the logical flow of your essay in finance. Conclusion In your conclusion which is typically one paragraph consisting of 5 to 6 lines, you need to tell once more what your essay has achieved. You can do it by returning directly to the research question. You can use one sentence to sum up every paragraph in the body of your essay on finance. You have to refer back your research question and give an answer to it. You don’t have to include any new information but you have to logically sum up everything that you discussed or analyzed in your paper. After your conclusion is finished, you need to make a bibliography page and include all the sources you used for in-text referencing in the reference list. Format all your references according to the style specified by your instructor. You can check the requirement for different styles, like MLA, APA, Chicago or Harvard online. Revise Your Draft and Do the Editing When you have written your first draft, you have to put it aside for some time. After a day or two, read the entire essay aloud to get a fresh idea of its content and logic. No one can create a perfect draft at once. Even experienced writers often have to write several drafts or make improvements while revising the first draft. Be ready that you may need to change sections or make some improvements to make your finance essay clear and concise. Editing is a crucial stage in the finance essay writing process because by doing it, you can see how logical and well-expressed your argument is. At this stage, you mainly have to check logic, coherence, and some grammar aspects. While editing, you can have to take care of the following aspects: the logical structure of your finance essay and the balance of your thesis statement; focus on your research question or plan; linking of your essay’s content; use of appropriate headings; clarity of explanation; use of active and passive voice; length of your sentences. Proofreading This is the final stage of the writing process and you have to do it thoroughly and systematically. You should be very attentive in order not to miss some important details that you may need to change. Here are some tips on how you can do it right. Don’t try to identify everything at once. You’d better focus on some specific issues one after another. Be ready that you may need to reread your finance essay several times. Make a list of your typical errors from your previous writings and use them as a basis for your proofreading strategy. Common problems in writing include: spelling mistakes duplication of words faulty abbreviations inappropriate tenses missing apostrophes mixing singular and plural forms Check your in-text referencing and reference list for consistency. Make sure all references are accurate and appropriate. Now it’s time to find a second set of eyes to check your essays and find mistakes that you may have missed. You can ask your friend or parents to read your essay, fix possible mistakes, and suggest improvements. Writing finance essays can be a challenge for inexperienced students but we hope that these detailed writing tips can make the writing process easier for you and less daunting. If you practice doing research and writing essays on different financial topics, you are sure to improve your writing and analytical skills and become a confident writer who can easily cope with any challenging topic.

Personal Courage Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Personal Courage - Essay Example I have portrayed personal courage in two dangerous and risky scenarios to save a life. The first instance or scenario was in a burning house. It was a neighbor’s a house and everybody had left except a young child who was left sleeping indoors. The inferno had overwhelmed the building and despite the risk of harming myself, I decided to take courage to save the little innocent child. It was challenging and despite the smoke and heat I managed to save the little child. Therefore, it is due to personal courage that enabled me to succeed in the rescue. The second instance or scenario was to save my friend who had been attacked. He was kidnapped by unruly guys on campus and being tortured. I knew my friend was not wrong hence it was unethical for them to exercise such an inhuman act on him. Therefore, I approached them in courage and attacked the gang leader. I won the fight, and my friend was finally free. Therefore, personal courage is a significant virtue that is recommended for one’s protection and

Gangs of New York Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Gangs of New York - Essay Example Scorsese makes an interesting story here as he inserts Daniel Day-Lewis who plays the character of a man who has deadly knife skills, William Cutting, a.k.a Bill the Butcher. William is a Native American who leads a gang of fellow natives who begrudge the Irish immigrants in the city. In turn, these immigrants form a gang and clashes with the natives. Scorsese’s portrayal of the gangs during the Civil War is a little too limited since he only focuses of the two gangs – Bill the Butcher and The Dead Rabbits. (Gallman, 2003) Although he makes it seem that there are not only two gangs around during that time, he only makes the two visible to the viewers. Nonetheless, Scorsese does a good job at giving a good background in this portion. The clash of the two gangs leaves Priest Vallon, the one who acts as the leader of The Dead Rabbits, dead. As the movies goes on showing the whereabouts and the happenings of Vallon’s son, Amsterdam, Full Name 3 played by Leonardo DiC aprio, Scorsese creates an atmosphere of vengeance while Amsterdam attends a reform school until the time he goes back to the city. Scorsese’s portrayal of the Five Points is almost excellent until some American-Chinese characters appeared on the screen, showing that Chinatown already existed during that time. It is true that the Five Points - Mulberry; Anthony, Cross, Orange and Little Water are the streets now being occupied by Chinatown, though some streets are named differently today, the Chinese community was not present during the Civil War. (Gallman, 2003) This may not be the director’s intention, since it is possible that they were in New York, shooting groups of people, accidentally passing a group of Chinese and forgetting editing the scene. Whatever the reason is, Scorsese is still not able to perfectly show an accurate picture of New York in the Civil War. The movie moves around the story of Amsterdam’s long-awaited thirst to kill Bill, having the Ci vil War as an aid to give a good story plot. Although it revolves around Amsterdam’s vengeance, Scorsese reconstructs the details of life in that era and the historical change and the reason behind the Americans and New Yorkers disdain the shed of blood and overt display of corruption and how the past laws gave way to the modern ones. (Lightner, 2006) As the story goes on, Amsterdam sets a scheme to avenge his father’s death, which eventually leads to penetrating Bill’s Gang deep, making himself as the gang leader’s trusted assistant. As he continues his act with the gang, he meets Jenny Everdeane, Cameron Diaz, who has a history with Bill and then starts a linchpin of male jealousy. Cameron’s character here is more of a structural necessity than a widely explored one. (Gallman, 2003) Considering the setting of the Full Name 4 movie, women of that era didn’t have much to do with the society due to the social injustices not just to slaves but also to women. Having a lady thief in that era, possessing a beautiful face and an extraordinary skill, it is tantamount to power and such vibrant character should be well- explored. (Sight and Sound, 2003) Scorsese could’ve used Jenny’s character to show the women of that era, unfortunately, she only is a hub for jealousy between Bill and Amsterdam, who happens to be a woman born ahead of her time. The movie shows too little of the characters in the story aside from the big three; Diaz, DiCaprio and

Afro-Caribbean Poetry Essay Example for Free

Afro-Caribbean Poetry Essay In this essay I will be studying the various items of poetry from manyAfro-Caribbean poets. One of the poets is Langston Hughes who was  born in Joplin, Missouri on the first of February 1902. He started  writing poetry after moving to Lincoln, Illinois. The poems I will be  studying are Mulatto and I, Too.  The next poet I will be looking at is Grace Nichols. Nichols was born  in Guyana in 1950, she came to England in 1977 this is when she  developed her fiction and verse writing. The poem I will be studying is  Praise song for my mother. The next poet I will look at will be Dr Benjamin Obadiah lqual  Zephaniah, he was born in Birmingham, but he spent most of his  time in Jamaica. After he spent some time in prison he decided to use  his energy for good and educate himself. The poem I will study I love  me mudder.  The last poet work I will be looking at will be John Agard. Agard was  born in Guyana in 1949, the country was still a British colony until  1966. In 1977 Agard moved to England. This is where he became the  light of the new West Indian British dawn of various bardic  compositions. Agard is a poet whom blends calypso styled language  with unique sounding spoken word. The work I will be studying is  Half-caste  I have paired the poems up. The pairs either share the same topic,  tone or language. One of the pairs is Half-caste by John Agard and  Mulatto by Langston Hughes, because they have the same type of  topic and also tone.  Half caste is about weather: the term half-caste can be applied to  any thing else apart from people. John Agard has written a very good  poem witch makes you think about the words we use every day with  out knowing the proper meanings and whether it makes any sense  when you break the word down. I think that many words we use now  are out of date and should be changed for politically correct terms  and alternatives. Agard also uses some stunning references to get you  thinking. The other half of this pair Mulatto tells us about the harsh  treatment black women faced at the hands of their white bosses in  the slave era and how the women were only used as play things, this  is shown in the part Whats a body but a toy?. The word mulatto  means the same as half caste but not as many people use it  nowadays. The boy in the story has a trouble fitting in with black  people and white people and does not have that sense of belonging if  he had been born to parents of the same race. The next pair is Praise song for my mother by Grace Nichols and I  love me mudder by Benjamin Zephaniah. Ive paired these poems  because they share the same topics which is their mothers.  Praise song for my mother is about how Grace Nichols loved her  mother and how she inspired to do the best she could. Its also how  she looked up to her, and how her mother was all the things she likes  such as the sunrise and the fried plantain smell. The poem is set in a  past tense which seems to tell us the readers that her mother has  died. The second half of my pair is I love me mudder. This poem is about  how Benjamin Zephaniahs mother came from Jamaica on a boat  called Windrush. Many people came from Jamaica because they  thought they would have a better life than the one they all ready had.  In black family family (need to delete this) life the figure of the  mother is very strong and is the main rule maker in the house, and  this poem shows how she works so hard just to make sure her familydont go without. The last pair of poems is taint by Grace Nichols and I, Too by  Langston Hughes these two poems have been joined together because  they both have kind of the same topic which shows the pain black  people have overcome but still yet we are strong.  taint is about the treachery that this person has had cast upon  them while they where a slave, the fact that they where stolen by men  the colour of their own skin. This reminds me of the black on black  gang warfare and killings. This person who trusted the people of their  same skin colour was betrayed. This work also shows how these  people where traded like they where animals. The poem has a  message to everyone: to stop fighting and live peacefully together.  The second half of the pair is I, Too which shows how black people  had to eat in a kitchen when company came but they ate well and  became strong. So when company comes no one will dare tell me to  eat in the kitchen and now you are ashamed about what you did to  me when I was mentally weak. This poem has a promise of hope for  Ã‚  change. Hughes suggests that Tomorrow things will be different and  people will see that beauty and equality of all peoples.
